The Final Countdown

Well this comes to my last forced blog post.
The big soooooo what?
After everything this project has put me through im suprised on how much I have taken away from it. When it comes down to the end of the line im going to stick with my beliefs. I vote Pro-Marijuana. It should be legalized with everything i have come across in this blog to much says yes, and to little effectively says no. With the ability to smoke marijauna healthly (with something along the lines of a vaporizer: ) there really seems not cons to legalization. With the fact that we would save our economy due to new taxes, rid extra prison space and taxes on minors in drug possesion, free up local law enforcements to take down real criminals, help those in pain with things like cancer, and cutting down on youth possesion. There seems really no reason at all to keep it illegal. As long as it is handled professional ( like alchol ) and safely. The pros are endless and the cons non-exsistent this really might be the Key to saving America. I say YES! on legalizing Marijuana.

Rastafarians Breaking the Norm

http://www.bbc.co.uk/religion/religions/rastafari/customs/customs_1.shtml

This link is just to show all of the people that think Marijuana is only used to get high is infact a incorrect assumption. The people of the Rastafarian culture are just the ones to show them up. The Rastafarians believe smoking Marijuana increases the spirtual connections with them selves. It there is known as the “Holy Herb” and “Wisdom Weed”. The fact is not everyone uses weed to get high. I feel like people against Marijuana Legalization are viewing weed as this overpower drug that ruins the lives of the users. People use Marijuana as so many diffrent things wither its pain relief, a fighting chance against depression, or as a religous act Marijuana does its people good. For anyone one that doesn’t believe look at the link, look on the internet for information. Just dont tunnel vision on the bad check out the positive traits Marijuana can have on you.

Americas people are changing, but the law prevails

A recent poll shows that the baby boomers are now offically Pro-Marijuana, and it was only 7 years ago when less then 30% of America throught Marijuana should be legalized. It has risen more than 90% a extreme amount for such a short amount of time. The Baby Boomers are becoming more and more of a liberal party as time continues on. However it seems that the government has a diffrent view point. More and more cases of claims that local law enforcment are changing the story to make people get in more trouble for Marijuana then ever. Fairly recent accounts go a little like this. 4 Different men in 4 different places of bronx all have the same claim. That police officers randomly searched them on the side of the street to find extremely small amounts of Marijuana. Enough to get a small fine, however each cop in action claims that the searched men had the Marijuana very public and were using in public. Thus causing the originally 100 dollar fine to skyrocket into the 2’500 dollar range along with a 6 months in jail sentence. As these claims continously rise one begins to wonder. Will the Baby Boomers help fight for a change? Or will the laws hasty ways prevail?

Some Paper That Hates Marijuana

So this paper that I have collected for my CapStone project  is all a gative view Marijuana. To start us off I have a paper written by a Gal that goes by, Laurie D. Berdhal. Her paper pretty much is just bombing all aspects of Marijuana. She first starts the paper with a personal experience with Marijuana. She claims that her Nephew John, started smoking weed at 12 (keep in mind legal weed would not be allow to anyone under the age of 21 kind of making this rant pointless but we will carry on). She explains that by 16 pot has turned him in to a bull in a china shop and he was tearing the family apart. He had already drop out of highschool becuase he missed so much due to Abdominal Complaint (how that was relevent ask her). So they sent him to a rehabilitaton center when pnce off drugs instantly happy again. Point of me bring this up it kind of sounds really unprofessional and takes away from the rest of her paper. It carries on to talk about how he overdosed some years later to what? A POT ADDICTON. There is no Physical proof that there can be such a thing as a Marijuana Dependency. Just people that claim its real. She then goes on to state some facts about things that are already legal and wrong like the few states that have medical Marijuana. She says only 2% of people in Colorado who use Medical Marijuana have an acctually need for it. She claims that the people that buy medical Marijuan sell it to teenagers. She aslo hates on parents whom don’t get upset about their kids smoking pot. She claims that they don’t understand that Marijuana is now much more potent. She says that Marijuana should’nt be legal cause the potencey will harm developing childs brains. It seems that she doesnt understand the fact that legalized Marijuana would be on market to those 21+. I found that man of the online sources that were supposed to be professional were very Biased and very  un-educational. I would not use these kind of resources for fair, non-biased research.

COMPARISON OF MARIJUANA

This video really puts Marijuana into perspective. Several other drugs that are legal and illegal are shown to have much worse affects than Marijuana. They rank marijuana as harmful as caffine but with less addiction and withdrawl traits. Proving that if Marijuana is illegal all other drugs should be to. They also show the statistics about the economic worth of Marijuana in comparison to other grown crops like corn and wheat. Marijuana Toppled both of them combined which is ostonishing. With the way it is you would think the Government would turn to any measure to save the downward spiraling economy. Yet they continuosly spend 7.7 billion a year on Marijuana related arrests. Along with the history of Marijuana related deaths, which one may noted is ZERO. Fact taken from CDC which proves this is a very realiable source. Then the finishing blow is the history of the drug showing all through out history where and when Marijuana was used and legalized. Which one may notice how it was ALL of history up until the last 50ish years. The video made a very strong impact on me and I thought showing it would make an impact on all of it’s viewers also.

Solving the Pain Without the High

http://healthland.time.com/2012/06/04/a-new-marijuana-plant-without-the-high-it-could-be-good-medicine/ ~ This is the most recent finding i have come across. The most surprising part though however is the date of when this post was published. It says that it was published June 4th 2012. I don’t understand how this hasn’t made a larger impact on the Medical society. Marijuana with out the negative impacts. This is literally a better treatment than any hospital could do for any terminal illness. At this point i can’t believe there isn’t anymore buzz about Marijuana with no buzz. Think of the people, the fact there is so little publicity on the new weed kind of scares me. I think it’s the government up to its antics again trying to stop this country from knowing the truth about pot.

Potry (Poetry with a Pot twist!)

Over my most recent findings i have came across a few poems that really interested me deeply. All of them deal with either very open or very hidden Marijuana references. The first poem (song) that has relations to Marijuana is “Puff The Magic Dragon” ( http://www.lyricsfreak.com/p/peter+paul+mary/puff+the+magic+dragon_10205000.html ) The song has many references to pot. The dragon itself cant be linked to the word “dragin” and Puff as in inhaling the smoke produced by Marijuana. The place he frolicks in Honah Lee is a reference to the town Hanalei in Hawaii which is famous for it’s pot use. I used this piece in my research because of the time it was published. It was published in 1958 which shows that Marijuana has been prevalent in the time of Illegal-ism in the US. It shows that no matter how hard the government tries to stop the movement of Marijuana people famous and not will be fighting for legalization. The next two poems were written by Allen Ginsberg the first being “America” there is only one reference to Marijuana and he says ” I smoke Marijuana every chance i get” I found this so interesting because he is so open about it. The whole poem talks about how terrible America is and how pot is an escape for people struggling in America. The last poem I found was “Howl” by Allen also, and it has several links to Marijuana. It talks about how a lot of struggling groups during the time like Jazz Musicians use marijuana, and they’re of the black population which had hard times during the time of this poem. As I keep finding Marijuana related references in anything it’s always used as an escape.

The Union Documentry

This video was chalk full of extremely amazing trust worthy info. It is a very biased documentary. However the fact is, is was still good. It not only tells you the pros of legalizing it, but it also covers the cons of not legalizing it which is something no one ever thinks about! I loved the fact that it slashed all of the government studies that have ever been conducted. Lots of people don’t really going in depth with how lots of information is found by the government because we assume it’s always well conducted. However when it comes to things the government doesn’t like it seems they like to us poor techniques to come out with info they prefer. The fact that the video thoroughly goes over the black market (which is bad for this country because that harms our GDP) is awesome. It shows people that maybe making it legal, will stop a lot of the things they’re scared of. Such as being a “Gate-Way” drug. If you buy it from a safe, government watched dispensary instead of a scary guy on a street corner. You would never worry about a case of getting offered cocaine or such. I also like how it had the interview with the man who had a terminal illness. It really opens your eye’s to people who aren’t just “potheads” actually need legal marijuana to function and live their life. I really enjoyed the video and glad i came across it. It put me on a new level of respect for legalization other then taxes, and medical uses.

Liberate

Liberate

It’s not a gateway drug unless you buy it from a sketchy man on a street corner, legalize it sell out of a store. You still think it’s a gateway drug? Check what you’re smoking because it’s defiantly not Marijuana.
